Founded in 2008, EFC has delivered impactful programmes such as the FIFA Club Protection Programme and the UEFA Club Benefits Programme. Mission
EFC has an ambition to reach 1,000 clubs, to continue to represent the shared interest and collective voice of all European football clubs at the very highest levels of decision making. Landmark governance reforms were approved at the 33rd General Assembly in September 2026 to reflect significant growth in membership. The changes will bring stronger representation and participation across the organisation. The approved reforms include:
A restructured 33-member EFC Board, with all representatives holding voting rights.
At least five (and up to seven) EFC Board positions guaranteed for Associated Member Clubs.
Provisions to ensure strong female representation on the EFC Board.
Eligibility for all 900+ EFC Member Clubs to represent EFC on UEFA and FIFA committees.
The creation of a new EFC Medical and Performance Working Group, ensuring clubs are at the heart of discussions and decisions shaping global football policies in this important area.
Unanimously approved, the reforms took effect on 1 October 2026, with the new Board provisions coming into effect at the beginning of the 2027-2031 EFC cycle.
