International Match Calendars

International Match Calendar

The International Match Calendars (IMC) determine when clubs must release their players for national team matches and competitions. These dates are agreed by global football stakeholders and play a major part in determining the structure of domestic, continental and international football calendars.

Clubs and their players are critical to the ongoing success of national team competitions, and EFC ensures the interests of all our Member Clubs are voiced in discussions with FIFA, UEFA and other football organisations regarding IMCs.  EFC and our clubs believe in a balanced approach to football calendars which recognises the mutually important connection between club and national team football, enabling both to continue to thrive.  The current approved IMCs in place are:

  • Men’s International Match Calendar: 2025-2030

  • Women’s International Match Calendar: 2026-2029   EFC’s strategic partnership with FIFA – detailed in a Memorandum of Understanding between the two organisations which runs through 2030 – requires FIFA to seek EFC approval prior to any proposed changes to the existing IMCs, and ensures EFC will be an influential stakeholder on behalf of its Member Clubs in discussions in determining the structure of future IMCs post-2029 for the women’s game and post-2030 for the men’s game.
