Our Partnership With UEFA
Protecting Club Interests at European Level Under a strategic partnership renewed through to 2033, EFC is the independent body for European football clubs. In return, EFC affirms UEFA’s position as Europe’s governing body — forming a stable foundation for aligned governance on club football’s priorities.
Securing Fairer Financial Returns for Clubs Through our partnership, EFC helped expand solidarity payments. Clubs not involved in European competitions now benefit from a 7% share of revenue (up from 4%) as part of the 2024–27 cycle — supporting clubs at every level of the European pyramid.
Enhancing the Club Benefits Programme In collaboration with UEFA, EFC secured a record €233m distribution to over 900 clubs through the Club Benefits Programme — compensating clubs for releasing players to national team competitions over the 2020–2024 cycle.
Driving Growth for the Women’s Game For women’s football, EFC successfully lobbied for the Clubs Benefits Programme fund for clubs releasing their players to the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 to increase from €4.5m to €9m — reinforcing clubs’ role in developing elite female talent.
Managing Commercial Partnerships Through UC3 EFC and UEFA have a joint venture, UC3, which looks after the commercial rights of UEFA men’s and women’s club competitions. This partnership drives commercial revenue and places clubs at the heart of the decision-making process.
Improving Matchday Experiences for Fans EFC continues working with UEFA and Football Supporters Europe to develop Supporter Liaison Officer (SLO) best practice. The second UCC SLO Workshop early in 2025 reaffirmed their shared aim: to enhance fan safety, communication and engagement across Europe.
Why This Matters for Football
EFC’s collaboration with UEFA ensures that:
Clubs of all levels benefit more from competitions, national teams and commercial success.
Women’s football gains stronger support through dedicated funding.
Fans enjoy safer, more inclusive stadium environments through structured support.
Our partnership with UEFA keeps clubs at the heart of Europe’s football ecosystem, shaping policy that delivers results both on and off the pitch.
