UEFA Club Competitions

Keeping Clubs at the Heart of Europe’s Biggest Stages EFC works in partnership with UEFA to ensure that clubs are central to the organisation, growth, and success of all European club competitions, whether it be through the UC3 or through the UEFA Club Competitions Committee.

From the UEFA Champions League to the UEFA Women’s Champions League, these tournaments showcase the best of European football — and EFC ensures clubs’ voices shape their future.

Men’s Club Competitions

  • UEFA Champions League The most prestigious club competition in world football. EFC works with UEFA to shape its sporting and commercial format, ensuring revenues are distributed fairly and that clubs benefit from its global reach.

  • UEFA Europa League A competition that gives more clubs the chance to compete at the highest European level. EFC plays a key role in developing its structure, prize money model and commercial growth.

  • UEFA Europa Conference League Introduced in 2021, this competition broadens access and opportunity to European football. EFC represents member clubs to guarantee that its development supports the growth of all leagues and countries across the continent.

  • UEFA Super Cup Bringing together the winners of the Champions League and Europa League, the Super Cup celebrates success and offers clubs additional visibility. EFC works to strengthen its profile and commercial value for participants.

Women’s Club Competitions

  • UEFA Women’s Champions League Europe’s leading women’s club competition. EFC ensures that clubs influence its format, prize distribution

and commercial strategy, supporting the rapid growth of the women’s game.

  • UEFA Women’s Europa Cup From the 2025/26 season there will be a new club competition for the women’s game. 44 teams will take part in the inaugural Women’s Europa Cup. The new tournament, developed in partnership with EFC, means more women’s teams will compete in UEFA club competitions, adding extra revenue to expand and grow the women’s game.

What EFC Does for UEFA Club Competitions

  • Commercial Rights and Partnerships EFC and UEFA jointly manage commercial rights through UC3. This joint venture ensures revenues from men’s and women’s competitions are maximised and reinvested into the game.

  • Fairer Financial Distribution EFC secured improved solidarity payments for clubs not competing in Europe, rising to 7% of total revenues from the 2024–27 cycle, supporting the professionalisation of the wider football pyramid.

  • Protecting Player Welfare and Club Investment Through the Club Benefits Programme, EFC guarantees that clubs are compensated when their players take part in UEFA competitions — recognising the central role clubs play in developing talent.

  • Enhancing Fan Experience EFC works with UEFA and Football Supporters Europe (FSE) to strengthen supporter liaison practices, ensuring competitions remain safe, inclusive, and connected to the fans who make them special.

Why This Matters

UEFA club competitions are where Europe’s best players and clubs inspire millions of fans worldwide. By representing clubs directly in the design, governance, and commercial management of these tournaments, EFC ensures competition remains strong, fair and sustainable — helping football thrive at every level.
